About Dr. Alan Ross

Bridging the gap between the Artificial Intelligence revolution and sustainable international development.

Dr Alan Ross has spent over four decades leading impactful international development projects across the developing world.

He created the DEE (Disaggregated Effectiveness Evaluation) Technique during his PhD to improve outcomes in public-sector and aid-funded programmes and has helped governments and development agencies to create better clear actionable plans that deliver real impact.

He is widely recognised as a global leader in strategic management and action plan development especially on road safety and has authored guidelines that are used across many developing countries in support of a safer, fairer world.

With public emergence of AI in Nov 2022, and rapid improvement in its capabilities, he realised that eventually an AI Tsunami would sweep across the world. If harnessed effectively, this Tsunami could fast track economic development rather than widen the Digital Divide.

— Dr. Alan Ross

Alan believes AI can drive faster progress on the SDGs in the next five years than the world has achieved in the last fifty, if it is deliberately used to push implementation forward.

In recent years he has focused on the intersection of emerging technologies and policy, advising international bodies, speaking at conferences, and writing and lecturing extensively to help low- and middle-income countries navigate AI and the wider digital age.
